Mojo's Story: No Limp, No Limit
Over the past five years, being a true partner has meant trusting surgeons to make the call that's right for the patient in front of them. For Dr. Mark Bramwell, a veterinarian who refers surgical cases every day, that same trust extended to his own dog when Mojo needed hip replacement surgery.
That same trust is what carried Mojo through two hip replacements and back onto the trail. To celebrate five years of Movora, we're sharing five of those stories, this one about a dog named Mojo who turned two new hips into eighteen miles in the Tetons.
Mojo presented to South Fork Animal Clinic in Ketchum, Idaho, with left front limb lameness. He was found to have an ununited anconeal process, which was treated with an ulnar ostectomy. He was also diagnosed with hip dysplasia.
Due to his difficulty getting around, Dr. Randy Acker performed Mojo's first hip replacement. Four months later, his opposite hip became lame as well, and Dr. Acker performed that replacement too, giving Mojo a bilateral total hip replacement.
Both procedures used BioMedtrix's BFX Hip with Lateral Bolt Stem, a press-fit acetabular cup paired with a lateral bolt femoral stem for stable, long-term fixation.
Less than a year after his second hip replacement, Mojo proved just how far a good outcome can carry a dog. He and his owner covered 18 miles into the Alaska Basin in the Tetons, through nearly four feet of mushy snow, a lost trail, and a steep climb that would test any hiker, four-legged or not.

Despite all of it, Mojo never limped, not during the hike, not after, and not the next day. For a dog whose whole world is the next adventure, that's the outcome Dr. Acker and his team's care made possible.
Meet the Surgeon Behind the Curtain
Dr. Randy Acker, DVM, DACVS

Ketchum, Idaho, United States
A board-certified veterinary surgeon who has run Sun Valley Animal Center since the early 1980s, Dr. Acker has built his career around canine orthopedics. He developed the TATE Elbow, a canine elbow replacement system named after his own dog, and has served as an instructor for both KYON and BioMedtrix total hip replacement courses. Mojo's bilateral hip replacement was performed under his care.
