Sprig's Story: Restoring a Future
Five years ago, Movora set out with a simple but ambitious goal: to help veterinary surgeons restore mobility, reduce pain, and improve quality of life for pets everywhere. Since bringing together the expertise and portfolios of KYON, BioMedtrix, and VOI, that mission hasn't changed. What has grown is our reach, measured not in products sold, but in patients helped, surgeries performed, and lives changed.
Behind every implant, instrument, and procedure is a patient with a story. To mark Movora's fifth anniversary, we're sharing five of those stories, starting with a poodle mix named Sprig.
Only a year old, Sprig first came to Clay Humane Animal Clinic after being stepped on by a child in the house, fracturing one front leg. Days later, before surgery was even scheduled, Sprig fell from the family trampoline and broke his other forelimb in the exact same spot.
Unable to financially support his ongoing care, Sprig's family surrendered him to Clay Humane. Without a clinic willing to take on his case, Sprig faced likely euthanasia in a municipal shelter.
Radiographs confirmed bilateral transverse radioulnar fractures of the distal diaphyses. The limited length of the distal fracture fragments made T-plate fixation the clear choice. The team consulted with Movora's Steve McQueen on implant selection, settling on 2.0mm T-Plates sized to fit Sprig.
Movora provided the plates and screws used in the case, helping offset the cost of Sprig's surgery. Both forelimbs were repaired in a single procedure lasting just under two hours. Post-operative x-rays showed good alignment, and by the next day, Sprig was already gingerly walking on his newly repaired legs.
Successful orthopedic repair is a trifecta of engineering, biology, and teamwork. Using VOI 2.0mm T-Plates and screws, the team led by Dr. Broadhurst did an incredible job. Sprig's surgery was a success.

Since then, Sprig has fully recovered, regained the use of his forelimbs, and has been adopted into a loving home.
What is a radioulnar fracture repair?
A radioulnar fracture involves breaks in both the radius and ulna, the two bones of the forelimb. Repairing both bones at once, and doing it bilaterally as Sprig's case required, calls for exact plate placement so each limb can bear weight independently during healing. Locking plate systems like Veterinary Orthopedic Implant (VOI) T-Plates give surgeons the stability needed for cases like this, where there's no room for a second attempt.
